I use 3 ml of 1% sodium benzoate per liter of gum. Very cheap, very easy,
very effective and the benzoate is odorless. I've NEVER had gum go sour. I
usually use it up before it gets very old, but I have some remnants of gum
batches that are more than 2 years old and there is no mold or funky smell.
