WARHOL MUSEUM ACQUIRES BOB KISS PHOTO”

The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburg, PA., USA recently acquired a Bob Kiss photograph of seminal pop artist, Andy Warhol.  Kiss made the photo in 1982 as part of a series named “Resident Aliens” using the same Hasselblad camera that the Astronauts used on the moon in order to get the crosses in the photos that everyone recognized in the lunar photos.  The subjects were so enormously talented that they could humorously be considered extraterrestrials.  Other subjects in this series included world famous author Isaac Asimov, influential art critic and historian Henry Geldzahler, and famous New York lawyer David Ledy.

Kiss already has two Interview Magazine cover photos and two photos from pages inside Interview Magazine in the Warhol Museum.  They were included in the Warhol retrospective show that opened at the Whitney Museum in New York in 1998 and subsequently toured the world.

Kiss is very excited by this recent acquisition because the photo is from one of his own creative projects whereas the other photos in the Warhol Museum were from assignments for Interview Magazine.

Bob has lived in Barbados since 1993 and, though he has concentrated mostly on fine art photography since 1996, he recently received ADDY awards for the Caribbean Region Best Over All Advertising Photograph and the Best Black and White Advertising Photograph for ads shot for Virgo Communications.
