RE: labeling on negative film base

Many moons have passed, Kimosabe, since I wrote on my negs but, when I assisted Mel Dixon (1973) and for my 20 year incarnation as an advertising and fashion photographer I labeled my negs in the clear area on the base side with a rapidograph using India ink.  I have no idea about the archivality of such a practice but the negs seem fine 20 years later.

Subject: labeling on negative film base

hello

I have been experimenting with titling my VDB prints by labeling directly on to the film base of a negative (below the image) so as the title appears as paper white on the print border. A regular sharpie does not produce enough density on clear acetate to be effective. Anyone have any ideas as to what might work?

thanks

david
