Hi Mark,

Let me know what you find. I had intended to buy a 3800 but backed off when my initil testing indicated there were not a lot of options for high UV blocking density. The Green works great, with a maximum of about 2.40, which is higher than the 2200, but in my tests there was a lot of grain with this color. The smoothest color was a combintion of Green + Red, but it only produced a maximum  UV blocking density of about 1.7. Course, that is plenty for palladium.

Printing a RGB negative file in color to get a black negative gives a UV blocking density of well over log 2.0.

Sandy,

Hopefully this week I will get a chance to play with the 3800 more and find out more about the gritiness issue.  From looking at the first calibration prints I did with it, it looks like there are some good possibilities of colors that will solve this issue.

In testing the 3800 with Don Hutton we
were getting very smooth tones with the black inks, and with a R+G
combination.
