JOHN SZARKOWSKI HOSPITALIZED WITH A STROKE

I received an email from New York photography dealer Charles Isaacs just as we
were about to send out this newsletter. His email is reproduced below:

I am saddened to report that one of the giants of our field, John Szarkowski,
suffered a serious stroke on Friday (March 2nd). He is in hospital in New York,
his family and friends are with him, but the prognosis is difficult. He has
still not regained consciousness. Your thoughts and prayers for his happiness
would, I am sure, be much appreciated.

For those who do not know, his wife Jill, with whom he was very close, died
suddenly on December 31.

When there are further developments, I will let you know. In the meantime there
is nothing any of us can do except keep him in our thoughts.
