RE: Cutting polymer plates
Susan, I'm getting a pretty good cut with a heavy duty paper trimmer called a Kutrimmer. It is a guillotine type cutter. I use the one at the San Francisco Center for the Book. They periodically have to send the blade out for sharpening since it is not designed to cut metal per se. The cut is clean. The Kutrimmer has a hand held pressure-holder so you don't get much, if any, bending of the plate. I bought a supposedly heavy duty paper cutter, but it bends the edge of the plate (the edge of the piece that falls off the bed of the cutter). It also doesn't cut the plates very easily. It was what was available locally at Staples, and "only" cost $65. I know that's not much as these blasted things go. Do your cutters slice through the plates easily? Do they bend the plates? Do I need to return this cutter and get a better one? help Susan -- susan gravure blog at www.susanvossgravures.blogspot.com website www.dalyvoss.com
