What about using some of that non-glare glass (of the
slightly-frosted-on-one-side variety) in the contact frame?  This might help
reduce the newton rings...

Has anyone tried dusting both sides of the negative to prevent Newton Rings?
 I always dusted both sides of my kids when they were in diapers....
