This description isn't very exact; to be more precise, I used approximately 50 ml gum for each test; the amounts I used of saturated boric acid were: 100 ml, 50 ml, 20 ml, 10 ml, and 2-3 ml. It was only the last that seemed to thicken the gum at all, and that not very much.
