Re: Jean Macalpine

I think Jean is a relative newcomer to internet communication of the kind experienced on this Alt Photo List.  It may be that  Jean is already a subscriber, I dont know, but bearing in mind the general reticence of the English towards self promotion, including myself, ( with a few exceptions we may recall) and the time consuming nature of the writing activity  required, I can understand why her work is not more well known in  the Alt Photo genre. Jean's partner, Ken Draper RA, is a more well known artist making three dimensional highly coloured abstract pieces, so her circle of acquaintances and clients are, probably,  more in the field of painting etc.,. Perhaps you would like to email Jean, directly. She is a very pleasant person.  Jean's and Ken's joint exhibition at  the Sa Nostra Gallery in Mahon, Menorca in July, was a real pleasure to view for my wife and myself.
Strangely, this year, altho' the Royal Academy now includes a specialist gallery in the Summer Show devoted solely to photography, Jean's work did not appear, and there were no Gums, either.
''When the Clouds go Rolling By.''
I feel sure your interest would be appreciated.

Very nice! Why haven’t we heard of her before?

Thanks,
