I also experience silver plating with relatively old (> 6 months)
sensitizer.

I think my FAC comes from Sigma-Aldrich and as you said, no trace of
sludge 
formation.
After a few months the silver coats the side of the bottle, but the
solution 
remains clear as Sandy said.
