sorry. . .  I am still here. I've been horizontal for the past number of days with a wicked stomach flu.
The metol did dissolve with no problem, it was only days later that I found it had crystalized. Frustratingly, the double strength developer worked wonderfully; my initial time of 25 minutes was, basically, cut in half. The ratio I used was 2 + 4 + 4. I'm still not sure how to proceed. Those 25 minute test prints were 'killing me'.

Also, I have found a discrepancy in the formula for LC-1B:
one formula lists:
metol 4 gr
sodium sulfite 120 gr
hydroquinone 4 gr
sodium bisulfite 30 gr
water to make 1 liter

whereas 'The Book of Alternative Processes' (1st addition) lists:
metol 4 gr
sodium sulfite 80 gr
hydroquinone 4 gr
sodium bisulfite 20 gr
water to make 1 liter

Perhaps someone could clarify? Dave?

Oh, I somehow missed that. I was working out of town last week and was
reading the posts from the list very quickly.

Hope David will find the problem soon and let us know too.  :-)

I think he could dissolve all his (double strength) Metol at
first but he saw Metol to crystalize days after. Changing the
order of dissolution won't solve this problem.
