FYI Shozo Tomioka: images from Noto Peninsula,Japan: May 8th - June 29th at Project Basho Gallery
Hi, To coincide with our shooting trip to Japan in this fall, we are having an exhibition featuring 25 silver prints by Shozo Tomioka, a photographer from Kanazawa, Japan at our gallery. The show runs until June 29th. Made in the 1950's these images depict the lives of Wajima, a small fishing village in the Noto Peninsula, the surrounding area, and the Japan Sea. Influenced by Ken Domon, a prominent Japanese photographer from the same generation, Tomioka captures the harsh and poor, yet lively and joyful, lives of fishermen, women, and children. If you are in the area, stop by our gallery to see these prints on the wall. Also you can take a look at some images from the show in our web gallery. http://www.projectbasho.org/gallery/ If you have questions, please feel free to contact us.
