Hi!

best is to look for non-buffered watercolour papers of about 300
grams/square meter (140 lbs)
Look for a paper with a nice white colour, and a smooth surface (I
prefer hot pressed)

But if you're just starting, don't waste your money on the most
expensive papers... Canson/Montval and Fabriano both have excellent
papers that are perfectly suitable for beginners :-)
