They came to me offlist because he's having some trouble with his connection (which seems to be going around a lot these days, like here... sigh!). In any event, I have his permission to forward...My own reaction is: "WOW !" ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Sat, 06 Sep 2008 22:35:20 +0200 From: Alberto Novo <alt.list@albertonovo.it> Subject: Re: Resinotipia-Namias Petrocelli wrote what Namias itself wrote first, speaking about a "materia grassa e resinosa" ("greasy -or fat- and resinous matter"). This was because Namias did not want to reveal the content of his patent, and so he spoke with opportunely undefined words, preferring to sell his powders. The French and English patents are now easily retrivable by means of the Europen Patents database (for example, http://gb.espacenet.com/, searching for "namias" as inventor name). Namias wrote that he had his idea while working on a bromoil with an ink made excessively stiff adding the usual stiffeners, obtaining a positive image. If one adds his knowledge on this process to this hints, he probabily will end with the Namias' powders composition. Think to rosin and stearine used as stiffeners... Alberto |
