Some years back, I scored an 8 (as I recall) in a real, professional Munsell color test, Proper illumination and all. It does get painful indeed.

The tester (PhD) said my color vision with that score was "excellent". I said I had trouble distinguishing browns from greens in low light. He said, "Who doesn't?" I stopped worrying about it after that.

I scored a 12 and I would have bet that it was perfect, so I'm
switching to monochrome work...
