Not sure why you'd want to. It's really big and really heavy and would be hard to schlep outside as needed. And, the UV source is a great, predictable light source that is a great tool. Also, unless you're working big, the advantages of a vac frame over a high-quality contact frame (like a Doug Kennedy frame) are negligible. And, these vac frames can actually dry out the paper during exposure unless you take precautions like a mylar sheet under the paper. Don't get me wrong, I love my Amergraph, and the vac frame is one of the reasons, but the lightsource is the main reason I bothered to get one.|
Last, if it's just the vac frame you want, these can be bought for less $ than a NuArc exposure unit.

I was wondering if these units can work just as a vacuum frame, without the UV source. Do they work independent of each other?
Can the UV head be taken off the machine? And just the bottom part, the vacuum frame be used for exposure in the sun?
