RE: New home for list needed.
I'm still in favor of Google Groups
because:
1. It has a very strong search tool which is built in. (The
current archive is not searchable to my knowing.)
2. It has a web interface with file sharing (documents,
albums/photos) & calendar (that could be used to mark events such as show
openings and workshops) and other features.
3. It also has the usual, simple and uncomplicated
mail interface for those with low bandwidth (or who dislike the web
interface).
OTOH, Malin's site could be a nice place (or "the place")
indeed, as long as they're able to meet the above criteria.
Regards,
Loris.

The "institution of higher learning" that you
mention does not seem to have any interest to host our list now that Gordon is
not working there any more. They probably don't even know or care what it's all
about. The list actually depended on the goodwill and hard work of Gordon,
that's all.
I'd much prefer that alt-photo be sited on a
server such as Malin's or other on this thread that have offered their servers.
People that are involved in alt photo and who really care about the well-being
and future of the list.
