Hey All!

I am visiting friends in Baltimore for the long Thanksgiving weekend and I stopped into Artist and Craftsman Supply which is right next to MICA. They have what they call amberlith which looks like Rubylith cut into square sheets of 12 x 12 inches. I picked up about five sheets to take back to Ohio. The cost is $1.80 per 12 inch square sheet. They have a website

http://www.artistcraftsman.com

but I couldn't find the Rubylith / Amberlith listed. From my store receipt the information is:

Item # 15225

TEAM FILM SHEET
"OBS" MFS31114AMBRU

It is located on the shelf next to their screen printing supplies.

Hello Erie,

Thank you for the tip,

I went to the local printing shop- it has real printing presses and got some print masking sheets- the shop says those are disappearing too as most printers are digital.

Thanks again!!

Instead of looking to art supply stores, try printing suppliers, I use
Valley Litho, and found:

If you are only masking UV for alt process work, stop by a local print shop
and ask them if they have any plate masking sheets, they come in various
sizes and are still used by printshops burning metal plates. Easily cut with
an exacto, and if need be, can be taped to a piece of mylar if you feel you
need the support, in a couple decades of using it, I rarely used mylar (only
for multicolor work)

DEAR SUSAN,
As the Ulano website lists Amberlith as "discontinued" it is
unlikely that misterart.com will get any more.  Bu they should
eventually be
restocked with Rubylith.
CHEERS!
