Before coming up with a list of acids people can think of,
here are I think important criteria:
1. the acid must be able to neutralize all calcium carbonate
in the paper
2. the residue does not interfere with the iron-based imaging
system
Safety, accessibility, etc., are important factors but if
these two criteria are not met, those factors are irrelevant.
