Henk,
Yes. Mowiol is PVA and it is used. Gloy, a glue available in the UK has
been used successfully for ages and I believe it is PVA with some coloring
agent.
I've ordered some PVA wood glue and will be testing it for size and as a
substitute for gum in the near future.
