Thanks Jeremy. This is reassuring to hear. I have never even worried about the expiration dates before, when printing full color positive prints anyway. However, I didn't have to take into account the same degree of calibration for printing digital negatives . . . still confused by the appearance of the venetian blinds and what could be the contributing source.
The "banding" of the venetian blinds are parallel to the movement of the print head.
