[alt-photo] Transparency Printing Problem

My Epson 3800 had a problem while under warranty and Epson sent me a
new/refurb. When I try to print a transparency (Pictorico) the transparency
seems to wobble on the trailing edge and smear the ink. It is like it is
moving back and forth in the printer. When it shoots out of the printer it
is ejected at about a 45 degree angle.
I have tried
Printing the same image on a plain piece of paper and regular art paper -
This works
Using unidirectional printing - does not improve the situation
Widening the platen gap (recommended by Epson tech during phone support) -
did not help
None of the things I have tried have helped. I am in contact with Epson and
it is possible they will take this printer back and send another. But, have
any of you had a similar issue? If yes, how did you solve it.
I know I could try taping the transparency to a plain sheet of paper and see
if that solves the issue, but before I waste another transparency would love
to know your experience.
I have never had a problem with two other printers printing Pictorico
Transparancies. I could try InkPress transparancies.
Thanks for your help. I am stuck and unable to print any negs. And of
course, I would rather be in the darkroom printing pictures than futzing
with my printer.
Thanks in advance,
Rene
