The pink color from 'too-far' toning might also be a paper staining thing. I have a Kenro Izu platinum print that has some pink staining on the borders, which I am guessing may be from some gold toning treatment. Gold is a pretty wild beast, as can be seen examples on Michael Ware’s site. The color range is incredible.
