One alternative might be to use "zone plate" photography,
similar to pinhole but a bit faster. Obviously, resolution
will not compare to large aperture lenses but it's a simple
setup if still interested.

I've seen examples of UV photography for forensic
applications, but other than that, I don't know if there's a
good reference.
