I just followed the procedure recommended by Epson-- which suggested cleaning as much as 4 times, and-- if no improvement-- shut down the printer for 8 to 12 hours, and then do a power cleaning. All that made no difference at all. It never got worse, but also never got better.  I just think computer/printer companies don't make anything to reliably last for more than about 5 years.
