Vertical banding does not have the same cause as the so-called Venetian
blind effect. Venetian blinds are in the direction of the movement of the
print head. Venetian blinds were very common with older generation
printers such as the 2200, 4000, etc and so far as I know have no absolute
cure, though a head alignment may help.

Vertical banding is almost always caused by over saturation of the media,
i.e. laying down too much ink for the media to absorb. Steps to take would
be, 1) doing a head alignment with the media thickness set to the
thickness of the OHP you are using, 2) decreasing suction if your printer
has that option, and 3) adjusting the ink distribution to use more of the
strong inks and less of the weak inks (get the same UV absorption but put
down less overall ink).
