I also use a magic brush and it seems to clean up very well with repeated
rinsing in distilled water.  
If you do want to use the phosphoric acid, please use Sprite or 7-Up as they
are both alleged to contain a few percent of phosphoric acid.  Sad but true!
Then rinse out the sugar and flavorings with distilled water.

I use the magic foam brushes. I use them through a printing session although
different solution can make the foam brush break down; crumble. The brushes
are rinsed with distilled water after every coating and left properly damp. 

The brush size changes based an image size and the brush type may change
based on paper type. 95% +, it's a good old magic foam brush. It works on
most papers with proper pressure. 

I see no reason to add anything to the cleaning process of your brush except
water unless you forgot to clean it at the end of a printing session and the
solution crystallized. Hot distilled water and  move on. Not too  hot
through.

Like many, I use the Richeson "Magic Brush". 

I do exactly the same as you. I may shake it out a bit more vigorously after
wetting with distilled water before coating. 

I don't do anything different at the end of the day. I usually get about 3-4
years service from a brush, then I retire then to some other use.
