Woooooooooooooooha! You asked two different questions in your
question:
Let's review:
1) You use a "direct positive" film to make a one step negative from a
negative or a one step positive from a positive. Direct positive means that
you don't need any intermediate film step (internegative or interpositive).
2) You use a negative acting material to get a positive from a negative
(like photo paper) or a negative from a positive (like making an enlarged
negative from a (positive) slide or transparency).
So which are you asking?
