There's also an app called, of all things, Alt Photo, by Alien Skin
software. Make 'Dags' without the mercury and bromine. Or silver plates.

The first emulation of analog that I noticed was the black border effect
that mimicked filed neg carrier borders. I called them silly affectations
then and still do. I mean, really, why bother?

Now, emulating sepia, tintypes, daguerreotypes, and so on is different to
me. They won't ever be sepia prints, tintypes, or daguerreotypes, but they
allow those who would never venture into a darkroom ever anyway to get
these looks. The deconstructing or degrading of the image via canned,
pre-packaged filters is a lark for some now, and an alert to all of us not
to trust an illuminated image on the screen to be what it might seem.
