In "Histoire de la d=E9couverte de la photographie" by Georges Potonni=E9e
(1925) THE french reference book for history of photography the name of
Niepce is Ni=E9pce with this note: in the original documents, Ni=E9pce is wi=
th
accent, but the time change it to Niepce, as in the actual family name.

give this pronounciation : Ni=E8ce like the Aunt's daughter.

May be this accent discussion is very uncomprehensive whith the internet
way of life where all the french diacritic signs are in limbo !
