Croda- probably a brand name

osseine- gelatin derived from bones (the best quality collagen) from the
french word (or maybe latin) *os* =3D bone

deionised- maybe swollen and dissolved in deionised water, or the pH
adjusted to the iso-electric point of the gelatin (=B1 pH 4,5 - 5) so the
acidic and the basic groups of the gelatin molecule(s) are balanced (no
ions present within the gelatine molecules). The gelatin molecules curl and
loose their stability (flocculate), the gelatin looses its initial
viscosity. This is, between certain limits, reversible by changing the pH.
Maybe some problems in suddenly dissolving gelatine layers can be traced
back to pH changes. The iso-electric point is specific for different
proteins.

Bas, also in the Netherlands
