said about sizing and preparing paper to suit some comic routine you've
invented.

So let me make the following sentence, you can silkscreen it onto a t-shirt:

The operations involved in most paper size-and-stretch endeavors,
whatever the details, take the same amount of total time. One may do
them in 10-minute installments with periods of from half a day to a year
inbetween, taking time out to get married, win a pulitzer, run for
political office or merely take a bath, or one can do them all on top of
each other. Many of us own several sheets of paper and have various works in
progress so that we can in effect operate on a pipeline. We are
organized. We plan ahead. We look to the long-term goal.
