Reply from Maija McDougal/Bromoil Circle of Great Britain concerning the
Taiwanese non-supercoated paper Chen Fu. The test was done by three members.
'All of us gave the usual treatment - 20 C soak for 3-5 minutes. The paper
accepted ink with ease. All tonal values were there- pure whites, mid greys
and blacks. resoak from time to time necessary. Very gentle dabbing action to
lift ink from highlight'.
They noticed no big difference in the treatment compared to Kentmere DocArt.
Questions raised by Maija for Klaus:
Why soaking at 122F (rejecting of ink not only in highlights but also in some
of the middle tone areas; this due to 'gelatine being well swollen')
What means 'strong litho ink'. A hard ink will not stick to the water
saturated, highly swollen gelatine in the highlights; a soft ink will give a
very flat print.

In the first issue of 1996 of the APR the paper is also discussed.

p.s. BBC2 today: last week they showed very old pictures :-)
