This seems to an American received opinion reflected in many articles and books.
But like most received opinions and books on gum printing, it, thank the lord,
is just not true.

Once one understands why and how the process works it becomes clear that testing
pigments against papers beyond the advice of the manufactutrers will not add to
one's practical knowledge.
