There are other methods of clearing photos and negatives from mirroring
using iodine/alcohol followed by fixing treatments. The main drawback
however is that in removing the silver a part of the original image is
removed also. One has to understand that the silver on the surface has
lost, so to speak, its "place" in the gelatine/silver mixture. The silver
on the surface has lost its connection with- and meaning to- the image it
comes from. In removing it the density of the image is altered in these
places. Sometimes, -sometimes- it can be necessary to remove the mirroring
in order to be able to print a negative without the veiling caused by it.
