>PHOTO ALTERNATIVE INTERNATIONAL , a world wide group, with a large
representation from the U.K., specialising in varied photographic printing
techniques, have been invited to exhibit their work at THE WAVERLEY CITY
GALLERY, MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA from 5th APRIL to 5th MAY 1996. PV 4th April
6-8pm to be opened by
Bernard Hoffert of Monash University, past World President of UNESCO.

The group has been selected to show 80 prints in this recently modernised
gallery in one of the cultural centres of Australia.
38 exhibitors will show twelve non-silver techniques from gravure to digital
images. Much of the imagery is experimental and innovative and covers a wide
range of subject matter. Artist/photographers from the U.K., CANADA,
U.S.A.,SWEDEN, SPAIN, PORTUGAL AND AUSTRALIA will be represented. As part of
the group some prints will be representative of the integration of computer,
photo technology and printmaking by members of the Research department, from
Camberwell College of Arts, London..
Some members of the group will be travelling to Australia to liaise with RMIT in
Melbourne to discuss and give lectures on the many processes involved.
This is the third exhibition of this international group, which was formed in
1992.
For those who cannot travel to Melbourne to see the show can visit the fourth
exhibition which will be at THE FOOTSTOOL GALLERY, ST JOHN SMITH SQUARE,
Westminster, LONDON in November 1997.
