Just in case you're interested - at the moment I'm getting roughly 200
bounced messages a day from people whose email address was invalid when
the list came up. It takes up to seven days for some sites to bounce a
message, and I'm getting bitten by this. Hopefully this will even out
soon.
However, due to the screwy listproc on this machine (the port to the
DEC server looks like it wasn't 100%), I can't mail commands to the
listproc like I used to, and have to hack the subscribers file by hand.
I'm not sure if the listproc caches this file, and so have been stopping
and starting the server to clear any cache. This has probably resulted
in messages which were in the process of being sent, being sent again.
The long and the short of it is: if you've been getting two and three
of some messages, then hopefully this will stop now (I won't kill the
server anymore unless drastically necessary). If it continues, please
let me know so I can investigate further.
And for Henk, hopefully that problem is fixed now (it was unrelated to
this other problem).
And remember, there will possibly be a list outage on Sunday (for a few
hours).
