I have used halftone base from Advance with success. It is thicker and
"clearer" than regular transparent base, which is a good thing if you
are trying to hold fine detail. I have no idea what the general shift
toward water based inks in silkscreen has done to the availability of
either halftone or transparent base, but the last gallon can of
halftone base I bought came from the student art supply store in
Seigfred hall.

I assume that you have already asked if they can order it. If you have
no luck there, you might try some of the graphic arts places in the
"metro" areas of Ohio. I used to phone order lots of supplies from
Metzger's in Akron. Why not give them a call?
