1. leave it as is,
2. make the list private, or
3. disable it.
Option 1 kind of sucks. I've been getting unsolicited email which I
attribue to the list, and I know others have too. For those that pay for
their feed, this can be annoying and expensive.
Option 2 sounds nicest. This would limit usage of that command to only
those members of the list. However, it would also mean I would have to
personally approve all subscribe and unsubscribe requests. This would
significantly impact the workload involved with the list - not a nice
thing to consider (we have quite a reasonable turnover).
Option 3 is the lesser of all evils. It means that no-one will be able
to get the list to use for commercial gain. It also means that my
workload won't be as significantly impacted.
However, quite a few people seem to use the recipients list for good
reason. I don't want to stop that. So, if for any reason you do want the
list, just drop me some email, and I'll bundle it up and send it to you.
The command is used a hell of a lot less than the sub/unsub commands, so
my workload won't be impacted that much. It also allows me to first
check that you're on the list, as well as keep track of who has a copy.
If spamming suddenly starts, I should be able to track it to a
particular user (if need be).
So, if you need the recipients list, just ask. Don't be afraid to,
thinking it's a lot of work - it isn't.
