Would appreciate opinions regarding the qualities of enlarged negatives
which might be used for "our" various processes. I.e. : if you make a
'proper' neg, is it good for cyano, Van Dyke, gum, Pl/Pt, Kallitype etc.
The reason I ask is that I've been noting with my students that if they
get a good neg for a salt print (full detail in highlights w/decent shadow
info) that it appears to be too contrasty for a cyanotype. Vice versa. If
you get a good cyano than the salt is flat.
I've used my same neg ... tends to be a bit contrasty, dense, sort of like
a full and dense 8x10 neg used for POP w/gold toning ... for all my
purposes and do pretty good with it.
Would, again, appreciate any thoughts re this.
