Re: registration of negs. for Gum

Hi there Robert

I've done up to 5 color gums (well, um the results after 4 rounds tended to
get pretty muddy!) without registration problems. I'll be the first to say
that my experience with various papers and sizing processes is minimal, so
my offering here is limited. Using arches bfk pre-shrinking 2x, 2 coats of
gelatin + 1 coat formaldehyde: this seemed to size the paper sufficiently. I
never used pin registration - most of the time a very small piece of masking
tape on two opposite corners was enough to keep the neg in place until the
vacuum sealed on the UV printer (and the tape isn't opaque enough to mask
exposures, in my experience.)
I don't mind at all visually adjusting the registration - it seems for me to
be the most effective way to go

re: paper negatives. there must be an outline of the paper, to llx14, on
your prints. after the first exposure, if you are using the same negative to
do multiple exposures, and if your paper is sized sufficiently, wouldn't
this outline be enough to achieve registration? may be a naive question,
{i'm shrugging}, I don't know!

ok
good luck
