Peter MArshall gave a very good overview of XP-2, and I wont belabour the point.
I did want to say that XP-2 is a truly fine and intriguing product, and
lends itself well to expirementation...I use 6x7 negs for my Pt and gum
printing...XP-2 shouldnt even be considered a *relative* of XP-1 in my
opinion, which was a much less successful product.
It was commented that XP-2 is a fragile emulsion/base...that is quite
true...I wouldnt trust it to local quick-print hacks. You WILL get
scratched negs and geen tinge. Roller processors are rarely maintained as
they should be even in pro labs...I shudder at the average mini-labs
maintenance schedule...
The correct color of an XP-2 neg is actually slightly pink-brown, though if
this is easily washed out and serves no purpose after processing.
Ilford has considerable info on XP-2 available, as it seems to be a
favorite product among the techs there...
