Hey, nice discovery, Richard Sullivan!
The photoflo in the sensitizer appears to do nice things.
I don't use as much as you do: I find one drop per ml. of metal
is plenty. More seems to saturate the paper with sensitizer.
With this method I can coat the paper thinner and get deeper
blacks at the same time. This (free) information is much
appreciated.
EDTA, on the other hand, does not work for me. It does not
fully clear the print, at any concentration or time, and it
seems to dissolve the sizing out of the paper (Cranes Platin-
otype). I find that hardware store muriatic acid, diluted 1:100,
clears well, does not affect the sizing, and does not bleach the
print, even at one part platinum to seven palladium. This is John
Rudiak's clearing method.
