Judy, as a "beginner" on the list, I feel I can let you hear my side of the
story. It takes time to pick up information and get a relevant impression
of what the list is. There is a lot of humor and privat talk going on. Many
people know each other. I have made a mistake myself to begin with,
provoking a terminological discussion, that I hope has not coased any harm.
But it is difficult to know in advance what the list is, who are the people
participating, what level it is at etc. One can find all kinds of things on
the net our days. It takes many hrs to go through the archives. I wish
there was a short summary of relevant information from all the exchange of
opinions that is going on, but it is a lot of work, who can do it? I wish
there was available a list of participants with some information about
their professional background and a field of interests and expertise. I
wish there was some more talk about the esthetics, the language, the
expression. I felt it was difficult to enter the forum, all of you on the
list wondering "who is she? what does she think she is? what does she know?
how does she dare to have something to say?" The responce I have got on my
first comments has not been very encouraging either, I must mention. It is
important, that the new subscribers get an obligatory list of information,
not necessarilly the FAQ, but more about "how abouts". I find the list
very usefull and I would really like to stay with you. This discussion is
important for the future, forgive me those who have to pay extra to read
this "irrelevant" to alt-photo-process material. Regards, Galina.
