I'm one of the many lurkers on this list, salivating at those who do what I'd
enjoy learning to do. But, I think that I finally have something to offer!

I remember seeing a story on NBC (american) nightly news a couple of years ago
about the "light pipe" that you're seeking. It was designed and built in Japan
for architectural/interior design purposes. The idea is/was to place a
collector on the roof and "pipe" sunlight into the living space (using a
relatively small objective lens, on the order of 5-10 cm). The reasoning is
that people, who tend to be too confined to their homes/offices, would then
receive the healthful effects of sunlight within their confines. The reason
that I remember this so well is because I had the same idea and didn't act on
it (sound familiar?).

Anyway, I'm only able to monitor this conversation for another day or so, as
I'm off on an extended vacation. Try checking this out with a Japanese
architect, or possible some type of lighting engineer. Good luck!

Tim
