If you *level* a large enough clean sheet of glass you can pour a thin a
layer of silver nitrate solution on it to "float" your albumenized paper.
The last time I bought silver nitrate I paid around 150.00 Canadian per 500
g. This equates to about five dollars per 100 mL of sensitizer so you can
see the need to economize. As Terry King has mentioned, brushing on the
silver is cheaper as you can do it with less, but it is not the traditional
method or one that I would recommend for even results. I still prefer to
use a tray with about 200 mL of silver solution. This uses 30 grams of
silver nitrate. I sensitize about eight to ten sheets during a printing
session and save the sensitizer (in the dark) in a glass bottle for the
next session. After 20 prints I will make fresh sensitizer.
(James Reilly says that a 12% solution with sensitize about 30 11 X 14
prints before it needs replenishing)
If your prints get the measles, your silver bath has lost its strenght or
has not been floated long enough.

Hope this helps
