"Now I hate film testing and I am not a detail person at all but I
have to tell you that on a recent 10 week trip to northern India with my 7x17
inch camera and in making 400 exposures of not FP4+ but HP5+ film , I have
never had such a good yield of negatives exposed for platinum / palladium in
my life. My density ranges are right on target in spite of the fact that the
lighting conditions were absolutely awful and varied from hot Himalayan sun at
altitude, to dimly lit monasteries. "

1. That sounded a very exciting project I would love to see the pictures.

2. Apart from anything else the logistics were impressive.

3. Stephen produced the negatives that he wanted for his pictures.Just for
information it would be interesting to know what Stephen's requirements are.
Other people may have different requirements which only implies difference not a
value judgement.

4 I have worked on the basis that FP4 accepts the need for adjustments in
density better than faster films. At 7 x 17 this is not going to make that
much difference . I am going to give large format HP5 a try.

5. BTZS will also be explored here in TW1 to see if my current combination of
acid/amidol and FP4 can be improved upon for pt/pd negs.
So far I have seen nothing that compares but one must not get stuck in a
groove.
