Although why we should allow ourselves to use this as an excuse is not
completely clear to me. A carefully written letter is not likely to lead to the
same problems as the slowness of response leads to more mature consideration of
the reply.
As an old hand of six months experience I know that I have been 'wound up' on
the list and sometimes reacted more quickly than I should.
In the circumstances might it not be better if we were to drop this whole thing
rather than making a federal case out of it.
As to Elizabeth's question, albumen paper is not available but it is not
difficult to make. There was some useful correspondence on the list in early
June.
