Last year I had a student from Taiwan who wanted to make photographs on silver
bars. We explored the various possibilities including the Kodak photo resist
which turned out to be extremely expensive in relation to a one off operation
but fine for quantity production. The material is still available from Kodak and
one did not have to use ferric chloride with it. A gravure positive on the
copper is probably the best answer if one is looking for a high quality 'print'.
