To keep it within the list, non load bearing walls were often built using joists
that were then covered in laths and then plastered, ie plaster and lath. To
strip back the plaster on these walls leaves no wall. I do not know if this
practice was entirely unknown in North America but I would be surprised if
reference to a good wall paper catalogue or supplier would not disclose a source
of wall lining paper to cover the plaster whether on a plaster and lath wall or
not.. I believe a couple of the classier British manufacturers have shops in New
York and if Laura Ashley includes interior decoration in its US stores you
should be able to find it there.
